Linklater is nearly great. This film is very neat. The constantly jumpy animation makes it very watchable and also tiring. It's about the meaning of life, life's a dream then you wake up, and the ideas are little more sophisticated than Ethan and Julie's (who have a cameo), but not much more so. Like every clever adolescent you ever met, who can go no further than sounding clever, instead of being clever.
