Arrived at Porto Seguro the day before yesterday, after a long coach journey through some amazing landscape. Nine hours went quite quickly, althought the arir conditioning was intense the views made up for it, the frequent stop offs in obscure places were interesting and full of local life, hawkers and entertainers etc - we had been coccooned to a certain extent in our tourist world so far. Only stayed one night in Porto Seguro as it seemed like the equivalent to Benidorm (no offence) in its tacky business, zillions of tourists all in a cluster by the strip on the sea front. Moved onto Arrial d Adjuda the very next day, a ferry ride across, still quite developed but much quiteter. The ocean seems to be ferocious at the moment, very blustery. Just a quick stop over and then down to Rio on Wednesday, 20 hours on coach this time. The idea of flying back to London on Saturday is slowly dawning...back to rain and cold...but back to my baby too.
