Review

http://blogcritics.org/archives/2004/02/16/162946.php I like these people who write really positive enthusiastic reviews. And if I had stopped after 20 pages I might have been able to be as upbeat as a blogcritic. Before 20, I thought, great a major writer, up there with Roth, Updike et al, when I'd finished I knew why I hadn't read Delillo before. It's still very readable with precise observations about life, American, family and academic (combinations thereof), but the book fades as the plots becomes more imaginative and farcical. DeLillo's talent, or his knowledge of his own limitations, is exceeded by his ambition, and thus he fails.
