Like it or not, I think Bush has won it fair and square this time. I was surprised to see New Mexico go republican. Massive turnout too. Kerry needs nearly 3% to win Ohio and I can't see it happening. One White House aide was quoted as saying Kerry was "delusional" in not conceding defeat and unfortunately I think they are right; Kerry and Edwards are acting in true lawyer fashion and trying to string the whole thing out. There'll probably be a whole army of lawyers now trying to contest the results in various precints... So, another four years of Dubya and oil back over $50 a barrel as the middle-east contemplates who's next in line for a bit of democratization (- Iran is probably the next favourie.) Still, at least the markets and, of course, Israelis will be happy about the news. The rumour is that the Bush MkII will have a new Secretary of State too so out goes Colin Powell and I wonder who will replace him.
