Review

Asda doesn't afda best stuff, but it's got something. The place was crawling with ants today, I mean people, all bunging as much stuff in trolleys from the full shelves of fat and sugar and other good food. I thought, this is hell on earth, though of course much better than starving to death, being mind-trampled by capitalism's annual orgiastic consumption festival. An old man stepped on my foot in the vegetable section, there were only a few inches of space to manouevre between trolleys pushed by smal children, fathers, mothers, bodybuilders, orthodox jews, and other people. The queue for ten items or less was longer than it normally is! and some consumers became annoyed with a slow check-outer assistant. Outside in the warm breeze of global warming, a woman who had been in front of me in the queue carried four bags of shopping up the steps to the bus-stop, and suddenly it seemed to me, as though she and the other shoppers had a fundamental nobility about them, a spirit of indefatigable human will.
