Presents are invariably harangued with problems. The gift its self may be good, ok, adequate, but then for those virtues it is unsurprising, unimaginative and makes for one more dull step towards some kind of material bliss for which we numbskulls strive, comforts and cushions for every corner. Gloves for bus stop waiting hands want to become cars. But its better, I admit, than the bad present. Bad presents means returns. Returns are the bad bit of bad presents.
Returning presents is a yearly if not biyearly chore, and offends in the process. The complications of receipts worsens with the pressure of time limited return periods, plus sales and so on. And perhaps worse for our sensitive, discrete (un)christian souls it confronts us with rude and noxious fiscal matters we wanted to forget.
