I like the hyper-reality of these films, hero (by yimou too), crouching tiger etc. Though I fell asleep for the final hour of this. The story was clear enough not to induce unconsciousness however. The ballet, inventiveness, and sheer aesthetic exhilaration of the new chinese cinema offers a lush oasis of hope in the digital desert of hollywood.
