Review

Enjoyed watching Harry Potty on Christmas Day in the hospital. Not a lot was going on; more than half of the ward was well enough to go home for the festivities. Apart from recognising some of the places (it strikes me as a strange reason wanting to see a film because you know the place where it's been filmed, all the gang from St.Roger's love the films shot in their glorious environs). I went through this with 'Goodbye, Mr. Chippy' later that afternoon contributing to a trip down memory lane, albeit in smelly surroundings. Yet it did occur to me that many of the sequences reminded me quite distinctly of extracts from other films. Not only in subject matter, but also the arty inclusions and editing. Indiana Jones and 'the Raiders of the Lost Ark' came to mind when there was Voldemort as a whisp of air going through Larry's chest in the forest. 'Total Recall', when Quirrel has a funny creature coming out of his back. 'Labyrinth', when the staircases kept winding and un-winding. Myabe I've watched too many films, or have I spotted a hole in Prince Harry's plan to rule children's imagination while being heavily indebted to 80s culture?
