Review

A reminder that now is the time to start collecting tokens in the Times to allow you to eat for marginally less than the menu price for slightly more the hassle in several restaurants. This form of restaurant appreciation was the source of many reviews last year, so I'm hoping that this year's offer will have those creative hands a'scribblin'.

Tokens seem to be gripping people's imagination. The other day I witnessed an extravagant and flamboyant young man claim his rightful £1 from Littlewood's. I dare say they only work if you have the stomach for this kind of thing. You can't help thinking that perhaps you won't get the same kind of service as regular eaters in a restaurant, if you are only spending £5 each. The management might well turn your argument on you and make you taste your own medicine. It comes as no co-incidence that I rarely saw one of my groupies after he was charged £4 a coke(no,not like that!) in Greig's, Mayfair. Nonetheless, The Telegraph is offering you to stay free in hotels around the country. The world isn't that bad after all.
