I like the outsized format of this book, which goes nicely with one's impression of KBerger the man. I didn't like the writing printed in three languages which means it is annoying to read, and that 2/3 of the text is a waste, unless you're a translation buff.

The show was in the park in Madrid. A good place to find Kippenberger on a cold afternoon underneath the omnipresent Spanish sun, which in the winter season was too weak to keep the Retiro from looking shabby. The book has lots of photos of KBerger clowning around, and he is photogenic and funlooking, a good poser, but they don't tell you much more than that we should worship the great man. There are nice big reproductions of the paintings filling whole pages of the big long book, and even double page spreads, and a pullout. The paintings are sometimes quite good, but he never stretched himself, perhaps because he didn't believe it was possible to be Picasso. Could have tried harder not to be cool.
