The hype means the audience is warmed up to like it. And the theatre is quite full in the afternoon, an unpleasant young man will not get up to let me in, because the masterpiece has started. The film IS quite good. Funny and right about some aspects of life, but you can see why it wows male movie critics, their self-fantasy is probably being a mid-life crisis wannabe writer and actor buddy on the pussy prowl amongst the californian vineyards. The tinkly music is crap, and there are some lame sentimental moments and a trite ending and Maya is a flat character. Yet for all the drawbacks it has life and is easy to enjoy.
