America has Judd we have Sir A. Caro. he's not sexy, seems old, is old. Alex Calder did it with panache, Caro makes you think of cups of tea, and art tutors in jackets and the 50s. Judd is denim and no knighthood. These metal monsters can inspire awe at large scale, en masse the medium sized ones seem like average examples of modern art made by a minor artist exhibiting in a provincial museum.
