Beuys. Big influence on everyone, I mean artists, but everyone's an artist, so. Gray and heavy. Funny to think that fat was once a radical rejection of traditional materials, think of all the chip shops of the world and you get the idea, and Beuys and museums have made it seem a cliche. I suppose that's one indication of Beuy's importance, but surely greatness is lost when last century's innovation becomes impotent. Beuys with his blackboards and hat and coyote, is silly, and mystical which is also annoying. Utopia would have been good. These art works don't nourish me. Can't be sure they're rubbish. Certain that love for Beuys is an affair for the older generation of artists/curators and their pupils/employees.
