Hey. I've been the Beuys now and am all the better for it. The usual Beuys room at the Tate kicks off its explanatory wall text: 'Joseph Beuys was a shaman...' and the exhibition compounds the fellony by repeating it. No no. Not a shaman. An artist. He was an artist. That's what's good about him. Those objects aren't magic. They're art. Good art.
