Review

After a splendid birthday drinks in the Crown & Anchor pub on Neal street, we wanted to continue the festivities so proceeded to a nearby nightclub. One of our numbers sings in the nightclub, so we were charged half board. All the action was downstairs, which is where we went. The bouncer did not like us loitering on the stairs. They were very attentive to the clientele. The decor ressembled an idea of a nightclub in the States, with dollar signs around and the front of a juggernaut stuck in the wall. You could sit down for a diner meal. We wondered how a British nightclub would be re-created in the States. A band played, people swayed their hips. My friends, professional musicians themselves, saw right through the players' artifice were un-moved by the cover versions, but we all joined in for Zorba the Greek. After an hour, we called a retreat and caught a night-bus. The band played on.
