Will Smith plays the eponymous hero who helps unlikely lads to get together with the woman of their dreams. He talks directly to us and gets us into the film's action. We see him work his charm, which he's rather good at. But being so good at getting the girl he wants means he finds himself in a rather Faustian state of mind- until he meets Mendes. Then he makes a real effort while getting the sort of anti-hero to woo a snazzy lawyer. Things happen, they're not worth explaining, it's too trivial in a jolly, feel-goofy way. Suffice to say, drama swings back and forth, and they all lived happily ever after. Go and have a good time.
