Review

I know from experience what a nightmare this is and I've had reasonable success in diminishing, if not eradicating the problem. Poison and traps are not very effective and anyway I don't really like killing them that much. The poison eats them like acid from the inside apparently, which sounds hideously painful. Anyway, my top tip is to find all the holes you can and plug them. You may not find them all, but, based on my own observations, the ones that are most obvious to you are probably also the most obvious to and therefore most frequently used by them. Stuff them with wads of newspaper then generously apply polyfilla. After that, you can probably round up the hardcore invaders with a few humane traps - plastic box trap door arrangements available from...pet shops oddly enough. Probably find them at hardware shops too. Get a clear plastic one. Bait it with peanut butter, bacon, ham or chocolate - just a small amount. I caught about 7 mice last winter with mine and after that was fairly untroubled. I let them all out in the wheely bin outside, which I figure must be sort of like heaven for them. Still get the odd pooh on the sill by the sink, but for some reason not much and never in offensive places like cooking pans. Perhaps I've evicted all the more aggressive shitters. Oh, and another idea that's said to work, though I've never tried it, is to collect some cat hair and leave it lying around.
