You know that it is impossible for Howard to win. Remember Labour had a majority of 167. No opinion poll this year has given the Tories more than 36% of the vote. That is not enough for them to win in their wildest dreams. Even a hung parliament is highly unlikely. If enough ex-Labour party voter vote Lib Dem then they will elect Lib Dem MPs not Tory ones. Some Lib Dem policies I like... how about scrapping tuition fees for a start? Think about the last years, you say... OK, let's think about 2003. Didn't something quite important happen in 2003? Or doesn't illegally invading another country and killing lots of civilians really matter rather more than having super-casinos? Labour's latest line is that if you vote Lib Dem in the marginals you won't get a Labour MP. Quite. It's called democracy. The real nightmare scenario is not waking up to PM Howard (that just isn't going to happen) but waking up to another Blair government with a 3 figure majority and he will realise that going into illegal wars doesn't damage him one little bit at the ballot box because the British people just don't care enough about people outside of their safe little island.
