Review

Jean Vigo is the Rimbaud of cinema. Died young, romantic blah blah. Lost something. For an old movie this is good, more naturalistic than most with one sort of aerial tracking shot of the river ultra-modern, good to see Paris in the old days, and the barge looks fun. The heroine is not so beautiful by todays standards, and her husband hits her and yet there's a happy ending so that's changed too. I liked the crazy old sailor with the cats. Funny the way people move like they haven't learnt to move in a way that looks normal on film. Recommended. Easy to watch. Good for a Sunday morning.
