This was more theatre than exhibition. Wasn't quite sure if I was needed but I turned up any way. The opposition were late so defaulted the toss, and Dan the captain decided for us to bowl first. I was square leg. Spoke to the umpire a few times. The wickets fell. The trees were lovely. Almost got to bowl, but the team ( 10 players) were all out for 121 runs. We waited to bat. I tried to do some work, but it was hard with all the excitement. As long as test goes better than biochemistry one. Three of our team were medics, but none managed to study effectively. Dan found a bevy of medics playing cricket on Wednesday, when he had to call off Reading match. He was very happy, but players don't always want to play even if they are good, which is how people like me get to play and build their reputation. I got to bat no.10, one better than last time despite a precious stone-named duck ( I didn't face a ball). Well this time I faced three balls, scored one run, and still ran myself out. It was all down to Lloydy and Jo. Dan won his first match as captain. We all went home very happy, and relieved.
