A friend said I should refer to Bellou as 'lesbian' and not as 'gay'. I thought you could use 'gay' for men and women. Plus it sounds happier. If I'd called Bellou a lesbian, what with her being Greek, it would have sounded like she came from the island of Lesbos (and not all Lesbians there are gay, though I'm sure there are also many gay Lesbians from Lesbos).
