I hate Pret too!

Their baked-not-fried doughnuts at 50p and 160 calories aren't bad though. Plus, the egg and cress sandwich at £1.15 is quite tasty and is of a good consistency - not too much mayonnaisey goo. It's totally unreasonable that coffee has risen from £1.10 to £1.29 to £1.59 over a couple of years, Pret seems to be using the same rate of inflation as Transport for London. The fizzy ‘Yoga Bunny’ drink – a 99p can of ‘sparkling water with natural herbal infusions of Echinacea and Ginseng’ is just embarrassing (but not that bad if you like that of thing). Last time I was slagging off Pret it was concerning the ‘Treasure Hunting’ slogans printed on their napkins. ‘Treasure hunting’ is Pret’s term for looking for new employees and through their patronising terminology they are trying to advertise the idea that they are such a nice company that not only is their food so natural, not even really ‘fast food’, but they are also super kind to their staff. The friend I was with at the time countered that actually they are genuinely good to their staff, relative to the industry.

The biggest problem with Pret is it’s absolutely everywhere and there’s one next to my work. Pret is the office workers’ punishment for either earning too much money or forgetting their packed lunch.
