Review

This is a brilliant film. Brilliant about the web of miscommunications between intimates - about the expectations that we have of one another and which we fail to express or express badly - about the grief of being misunderstood by those we love - about being stifled by those same people - about jealousy and infidelity - about how memories haunt us. A feminist triumph too - despite being set among an elite of educated thinkers and writers, the obsession with a woman's physique prevails. It is against this, amongst other things, that the heroine is obliged to fight. Women are objects in this society, and men the thinkers/writers/doers. Nothing ever changes.
