from the Director of Swingers, this is nearly cool fun great entertainment. He, Doug Liman, also worked on The OC, hence the presence of Seth Cohen as a supporting character.

Brad and Angelina are good movie stars. They both have pulchritudinous presence, neither extends themselves, they just languidly and laconically let the camera enjoy them.

But in all the violence, lifestyle (happy mayhem in commuterland) pornography of Mr/s Smith, their is one glaring enormous huge problem... There is no dramatic tension whatsoever. The premise that they are both assassins working for rival agencies, is hard enough to believe. Then when they find out that they both are liars, their attempts to kill each other are entirely without the possibility or motive for it to happen. We know neither star will die, we can't work out why they are trying to kill each other, and we can't believe that such teams of high-tech murderers actually exist in Amerika. So all humour, shock, or interest is drained from the film. We just watch it all unfold in its knowing beautiful surface, without the slightest intrusion of ourselves. The viewers need stories, even when we know the ending. This film never has a beginning.
