Channel 4 News gave the explanation for why there wasn't any political commentary - there were films about the various issues shown to the crowd on the day, but they weren't shown on the BBC because the BBC is supposed to be 'impartial'. Channel 4, meanwhile, is attempting to do what they didn't, with reports from all over Africa and discussions with the actual people affected by all this.
