Cycling in Rotterdam proved to be a bit of a problem, we were tourists and didn’t have our own transport, we could hire bikes but me being a midget meant that of course my legs would never reach the ground…Luckily my lovely partner was most obliging and we spent a good hour rambling around with me sitting on the back on the luggage rack. So off we went, over canal bridges and into a big park, where we ate fries covered in a mystery piccalilli type sauce, served up by a jolly man in a wooden shack, which also seemed to house a neo-Nazi couple (or were they cops- they were dressed all in black and DMs and the guy had a skinhead) plus their six dogs (no exaggeration). It was with a Jules et Jim vibe that we zoomed back into town having experienced, we thought, a little bit of the Rotterdam weekend scene. (part three to follow…)
