Review

Why were the 80s so beautiful for films? They are mannerism versus the 70s American renaissance. Manhunter, is as most know, presilence of the lambs, Hannibal. Stars CSI pietersen, and it's violence and perversity seem tame compared to his present vehicle. Our appetite for the terrible have really matured. Our ability to exploit the power of moving images has however deteriorated, Manhunter has a startling virtuoisty, a combining of music image mood acting story, with a crystal clarity not dissimilar to the best fiction of John Updike. Beauty.
