Review

Elmlea sits lurking on the shelves of shop refrigerators next to the dairy products posing as cream, targeting weight watchers and the uninformed consumers. It may look like cream taste like cream, and even respond to whipping in a cream like way (persistently resisting bubbles whilst showing potential) but it is not cream and has only been placed there because of its very uncream like quality: long life. Yes Mr local shop keeper knows his stuff, and targets his victims at their weakest, far away from the dazzle of the supermarket, forcing a £1.65 out of a cream thirsty troglodyte who is too desperate to do his/her usual product perusal. Don’t let the icon deceive you the cream coloured sauce draped over the strawberry is illustrating Hydrogenated vegetable oil and buttermilk emulsion, look closer before you grab for the pot and you might make out the vital words, the key to the products success, for it is ‘the real alternative to cream’ (and don’t let your cabin fevered mind confuse what's 'real' about it).
