Cage is good at the laid back action hero with a knowing curl of his lip on his ironic hang-dog face. Bogartesque, as he usually seems to preserve a little bit of nobility underneath the cynicism. Cage now seems to have entire films created around his screen persona. A gun-runner giving a black-humorous voice-over on his murder-enabling exploits. Hurrah for amorality in Hollywood heroes. The plot is more like an exposition of the weapons business, with little real character development, but at least the tone and theme are unusual, and the ending is happily unhappily happy.
