Review

This came straight off the back of the ASDA truck; it felt good to have such a warm cake in our hands. All four of us enjoyed the happy-go-lucky, trigger-happy tale of a chauffeur helping out a powerful family by getting their son back from the baddies before they all get killed by a nasty disease that the baddies have invented. Sounds familiar? That's what we thought, and yet our artistic temperaments were able to enjoy all this cruel violence that was unleashed onto us. Maybe we have become more wicked people, but I think too that the film had some redeeming features. The main guy speaks with an unusual accent that keeps you guessing through out his action-packed sequences. How will he pronounce 'mechanism', you find yourself wondering. Then he has an atypical friendship with a French chef cop, whose presence doesn't really add much to the action. Is he there for other reasons, you wonder. Why does he turn down the fit babe of the mother. Surely, he isn't afraid of Matthew Modine. And still our hero can drive his car like there's no tomorrow. The plot has some other twists and turns, and the slow-motion sequences rock with the action, leaving you craning from your seats. It might not change your outlook on life straight away, but it will have you rollicking with mega-cool stuff for days to come.
