Review

Some people think Rubens is ugly because his paint is thick and cheesey as a pizza hut pizza and the figures are brutal and have been bodybuilding, and his colours sing too loud and out of tune. But of course those are the reason why he is so good. He sneers at your bouregeois muted taste of now and shits on you with his bravura brawn and massacred innocents. We prefer his sketches as they are light like impressionism, but that is style not meaning, and Rubens means heavy. Why is that good? Because his paintings make flesh absurdly exciting fantastically alive and his paint takes off rocket like from being oil and becomes slick tough meat shovelled not tickled. Alive you fools.
