Review

There's a review of this in the last but one NY Review of Books and it basically says the same thing - that it feels too much like an agenda being pushed.

In answer to why anyone in the west might need to read this, there were Maoist cells among the radical sixties movements. I think Warhol (no communist he) partly painted his Mao paintings as as satirical response to this. The name of the band Country Joe and the Fish was derived from Mao's designation of himself as 'the fish that swims in the sea of the people'.
