By chance got home at a decent hour, flicked the tv on, beeb 2, and found what seemed to be that latter half of a docu on the german artist Gregor Schneider. Gregor is possibly most well know for his 'morphing house' piece which is an ongoing project on the home he grew up in. With this work he is continually building more new spaces and rooms within rooms, often spaces where you may find yourself blocked in! Intriguing stuff. The docu was also quite fascinating (maybe the beeb will run it again some time) with Gregor quite happy to show the presenter around his house piece but would give limited explanation about the full concept or meaning to the work, i applauded him for this, as it forces us to, bloody hell, use our brains a little and actually think about what we are experiencing. Quite classic was when the presenter would ask a particularly probing question and Mr Schneider would simply just look at him and not say anything, until the presenter eventually realised that Greogor wasnt going to answer any more of his ridiculous questions. Reticent to a glorious degree. If you dont know much about his work, check him out. Intriguing man.
