Review

Don't go to the theatre much. Would like to, but usually end up in the cinema. You don't see the other spectators and the actors don't need to speak up so much. It makes me very conscious of the fact that they are acting. Perhaps that is part of the spectacle. Didn't enjoy this play too much. The characterisation was too brutal for my sensitive leanings. Now guns have crept into plays, how frightening. It is by Alan Ackbourn and his latest play did very well in New York City. But they're more used to guns. Found that they were working ideas too much, the characters became predictable and tiresome. However the plot itself was not too predictable and I was surprised how irritable I had become at the end.
