Review

"This exhibition is the first comprehensive survey of photography and video from China since the mid 1990s and the first major showing of contemporary Chinese art at a UK venue. Showcasing works by 39 artists - many of whom have not exhibited in the UK before - it will introduce the activities of experimental Chinese artists and through them provide intriguing insights into life in today's China." from http://www.vam.ac.uk/vastatic/microsites/1369_between_past_future/exhibition.php

I was excited to see this. Always thinking the best new stuff will come from the East. Cliche. It's non-accidentally occidental. Contemporary art's hegemony. Computer manipulations, big photos, insensible films, self-torture, light boxes. etc etc. Nothing new, or particular. quite a lot of oriental people looking at this show. Interesting to see how another culture samples yours.
