In towns and villages across the country today, those members of the population not already smokers resolved to take up the habit in protest against the latest lunatic government dictat. Elderly grandparents told their children about Blitz spirit, and how the bombed East End made them feel about the Nazis. Familes stockpiled cigarettes in anticipation of a total ban, hawking heirlooms and emptying savings accounts to invest in the most precious commodity of all - fags.
The people of England rose up as one to proclaim this truth: the government has gone too far.
