Review

Having watched this as a nine year old, I was surprised to see it shown as the a prime time event, (9pm) on an adultish channel E4. Though it being the holidays perhaps they put it on as a special treat all the OC/Friends/smallville viewers officially up late. I enjoyed it the first time round, and this occasion allowed me to note time passing. The way it seemed pleasantly slow, movies have gone into plot accelerators since, that the special effects looked digitally updated, or had been quite well done in the beginning, that the scientists and others in the film weren't quite as geek-cliched as they would be now, and that it had been an original and classic film perhaps now ripe for a repulsive postmodern remake starring Ben Stiller. So things are getting worse, though old people have always thought that, so it can't be true. Can it? can it!
